It’s that time of year again: trends and predictions. Just like going into 2019, as we go into 2020 it’s time to reassess and catch our breath collectively before beginning cyber security planning. There are three dominant geopolitical events next year that will guide many cyber activities, either by providing motivation and opportunity for attackers or by muddying the waters and adding to the confusion: the US presidential election (and possibly presidential impeachment), the modern day rendition of Downton Abbey that is Brexit or even the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Will that be all? No, of course not. Things will happen as they do every year, and cyber will both be its own battlefield and affect all other means of conflict just as it did in 2019.
